Track Conditions

Track Conditions & How to Use the system

On the left side of the spreadsheet are the placing
over the distance & track condition(up to 4 on each).
ON the right hand side are the ratings.
* means placing in 3yo stake race
Please note that some maiden form is not
included in placings.

Flat distances are rounded up & down to the following
distances – 1000m,12,13,14,16,20,22,22hwt,23+
Colour on left side placings mean –
higlighted yellow (up to 200 metres shorter)
highlighted blue (up to 400 metres shorter)
highlighted brown (up to 200 metres further)
highlighted purple (up to 400 metres further)

– Colour usually used when horse hasn’t raced
over
type of track and/or distance).

At times I may record the results on a slightly different
track condition to the race-book. I independently rate
the tracks to maintain consistency.

Track conditions are very important on a raceday.
It is important that you access  the true track
conditions.

A guide to what picks to use based on
race times –

Good 2

Times : 1.22.2 or less (1400m) , 1.33.3 or less (1600m)

Good 3

Median Times : 1.24.0 (1400m), 1.35.5 (1600m)

Easy  (Dead 4-6)

Median Times : 1.26.0 (1400m), 1.38.0 (1600m)

Soft (Slow 7-9)

Median Times : 1.27.0 (1400m), 1.40.0 (1600m)

Heavy 10

Median Times : 1.29.0 – 1.32.5 (1400m) , 1.42.0 – 1.45.5 (1600m)

Very Heavy (11)

1200m    1.17.5 plus

1400m    1.33.5 plus

1600m    1.47.5 plus

If the track is a Good 3 and I find
that
my first selection for the next
track condition, i.e. Good 2, is not
included  in my Good 3 selections,
I will always incluse this horse in
my mutliple trebles.

Similarly, if there is a shortprice tote favourite
not included in my selections, I will include
this horse in my multipiles. It is quite common
when the system throws up a ‘roughie’, the
resultant quinella will be with a  short-priced
favourite.

Sometimes, the track condition may be
bordering between 2 track conditions.
In this situation I consider the  first 2-3 picks
for each track condition involved.
